A sampling of Kent Police incidents Nov. 11 through Dec. 4:

Nov. 11

Carjacking: 6:52 a.m., officers received a LoJack (stolen vehicle app alert for police) hit while on patrol around Washington Avenue and James Street. Officers quickly got into the area and began a diligent search for the vehicle, a stolen black Chevy Tahoe, reported stolen out of Tacoma Police Department and wanted in a carjacking. The car was quickly located, and eventually, a pursuit was initiated. The stolen vehicle collided with a semitrailer and caught fire south of South 280th Street on West Valley Highway in Auburn. The suspect was transported to the King County jail.

Nov. 13

Threat with gun: Officers were dispatched to a recent assault at the Chevron, 8315 S. 212th St. The victim reported that a co-worker had tried to shoot and kill him after he had a verbal argument. The suspect had threatened to kill the victim, so the victim informed management, who fired the suspect. Later in the day, the victim left work and saw the suspect following him in his car. The victim pulled into the Chevron to confront the suspect. The suspect exited his vehicle, pulled a handgun from his waist, pointed it at the victim, and pulled the trigger. The gun did not fire, and as the suspect worked through the mechanical dysfunction of his weapon, he accidentally released the magazine from the handgun. The victim quickly picked this up and ran. The suspect left briefly before returning and then searching again for the victim.

Nov. 14

Shots fired: 6:43 a.m., patrol was dispatched to Alvista 240 Apartments at 110th Ave. SE and SE 240th Place about a shooting. There had been an argument in the parking lot between a large group of females during which at least three shots were fired, with one round striking one person and the others hitting a building.

Nov. 16

Assault, car stolen: A man the victim knew from a previous contact where he had sold her makeup came to her business and told her he had more makeup that he wanted to give to her. He suggested they load it into her car and followed her outside. The suspect then grabbed the victim while telling her she was coming with him. After a brief struggle, the victim was able to get away but sustained a minor cut to her neck. The suspect took the victim’s phone and stole her car.

Nov. 17

Stolen vehicle: 1:25 a.m., officers observed a vehicle backed in a parking stall with the passenger door open in front of 7-Eleven, 511 W. Meeker St. An officer pulled into the parking lot to investigate, and as he walked past the vehicle, he aired the license plate, which returned to a reported stolen vehicle out of Port of Seattle. He then noticed a female exiting the store, to whom he asked about the car, but she denied any involvement. The employee overheard the interaction and said she was the vehicle’s passenger. Officers detained the female as the suspect vehicle fled the parking lot. Officers were surveilling the 7-Eleven where the suspicious vehicle was last seen. The suspect circled the block and raced into the parking lot directly toward officers and the female suspect. The car stopped as officers challenged the driver of the vehicle. The female seized the opportunity to flee, running with handcuffs towards the suspect vehicle. Officers chased the female and tackled her as she had the passenger door open. Officers gave verbal commands to the suspect as officers dragged the female away from the vehicle. The suspect then fled the parking lot for a second time as responding officers were arriving.

Nov. 19

Assault: Officers were dispatched for a report of an assault between family members at Grandview Apartments, 3900 Veterans Drive. Once on scene, officers began their investigation and learned an adult son had assaulted family members while likely in a mental health crisis. Officers interviewed all involved, establishing probable cause, and making their arrests. Recognizing the stress and trauma of the situation for all involved, Project Be Free was contacted as a resource for the family, and they responded to assist officers once the scene was rendered safe. This assistance to the family used the department’s new Domestic Violence Co-Responder program.

Nov. 20

Robbery: 10:55 p.m., patrol responded to Kent Station shopping center, 417 Ramsay Way, regarding a robbery. The victim had parked to get food to go when the two-armed suspects demanded their vehicle. The suspects fled the area in their car, along with a vehicle that brought them to the scene.

Stolen vehicle arrest: Officers were dispatched to a stolen vehicle recovery at Railroad Avenue and Willis Street after On-Star called dispatch and advised that a reported stolen vehicle of theirs was being tracked. It was reported that the car had been stationary for about 20 minutes. On-Star had turned off the vehicle remotely so it could not be moved. Officers found the car parked in front of a house and noted it was unoccupied. Officers began investigating and recovering the vehicle, getting photos, and canvasing the area for cameras. While waiting for AFIS to process the car for latent prints, a man exited the house and, using a key fob, entered the vehicle’s driver’s seat, not even noticing that a police vehicle was positioned in front of the stolen car. When the vehicle wouldn’t start, the suspect looked up to see officers had repositioned his truck to block the driver’s door while awaiting additional officers. The suspect exited the passenger door and initiated a short foot pursuit. The suspect was quickly caught and arrested.

Nov. 21

Shots fired, arrests: 5:56 a.m., officers responded to a car that had fired several shots in the 20200 block of 125th Place SE. As officers responded, they located and pursued the suspect vehicle, resulting in three suspects being arrested after a collision. At the scene, 12 casings were located, and a car was found damaged.

Nov. 23

Assault: Officers arrived at Puget Sound Fire Station 74, 24611 116th Ave. SE, for a report of a single-car collision. They noticed two other vehicles in the parking lot and several people gathered around them. One of the subjects was irate, yelling obscenities and threatening to assault others. Family members tried to calm the subject down and escort him to an awaiting vehicle. The suspect then began assaulting a male in front of the officers. Officers stepped in, and the subject became combative, which caused a call for a Code 2. They were able to get the suspect detained in handcuffs, and then he began spitting on the officers while also cursing and threatening to assault them. The responding officers took over to allow the involved officers to step away.

Nov. 24

Stolen vehicle, arrest: A stolen vehicle with someone passed out inside was reported parked in the 800 block of Third Avenue South. The exact vehicle was involved the previous night in a series of burglaries in Des Moines. Officers set up the car with spikes at all escape routes. The occupant fled but not before getting both rear tires flattened. The car made it onto Highway 167 and was not located until it was reported in Renton with a suspect walking away. Washington State Patrol had flooded that area and arrested the suspect. Des Moines Police responded to take the vehicle for processing.

Nov. 25

Attempted robbery: 8:47 a.m., patrol responded to Plaza Fruit and Produce, 23311 Pacific Highway S., referencing a robbery. The victim had been upstairs asleep when the business was broken into; when they went downstairs, the suspect presented a firearm, and the victim was able to run away and call the police, causing the suspect to flee.

Stolen vehicle occupied: 8:36 p.m., officers responded to 7-Eleven in the 26200 block of 116th Avenue SE for an occupied stolen vehicle. Upon confronting the suspect, they tried to flee in the car, striking the building. The suspect surrendered to police.

Nov. 27

Attempted robbery: 2:08 a.m., the patrol was dispatched to Skyview Apartments, 3322 S. 222nd Place, regarding an attempted robbery. The victim had been working as security when three armed males approached him and demanded he exit the vehicle. The victim was able to flee in his car.

Safeway robbery: 10:16 a.m., officers were dispatched to a strong-arm robbery at the Safeway at 13101 SE Kent Kangley Road. Dispatch advised that two males had taken a customer’s phone out of her hand, and the customer had run after the two males in the parking lot. The victim advised officers that she was in the meat department looking at her phone when two subjects ran up to her. One grabbed her phone, and the other tried to grab her purse. She was able to retain her purse. The suspects ran off and were located by responding officers. An identification was made via surveillance video. The victim’s phone was found hidden under a vehicle at a nearby complex.

Nov. 28

Threat with weapon: 3:21 p.m., officers were dispatched to a threat with a weapon at SE Kent Kangley Rd/116th Ave. SE. The victim advised that she was in her vehicle, stopped at a light with a vehicle in front of her. She honked at the car before her to proceed through a free right-hand turn. The vehicle went through the light, and the victim’s vehicle followed. When the victim’s vehicle was next to the suspect vehicle (4-lane road), the driver of the suspicious vehicle pointed a gun out the window at the victim. The victim was able to obtain suspect vehicle information. Officers located the suspect vehicle, driver, and the weapon at the listed vehicle address.

Nov. 30

Cable wires cut: 10 a.m., officers were dispatched to a reported malicious mischief at 11007 SE 196th St. Dispatch advised there were cut fiber optic cables and provided a point of contact with the senior manager and security investigator for Comcast cable. Early this morning, there was also an incident with a matching set of circumstances in Graham. The wires were cut on both sides of the road, north and south. Clear-cut marks were on the fiber cables on both sides of the streets. The damages caused are estimated to be approximately $150,000.

Food mart robbery: 10:31 a.m., officers were dispatched to a robbery at M&J Food Mart, 427 E. Smith St. The store clerk/victim advised that the suspect walked into the store and stopped at the counter. The suspect pulled out a silver in color, larger handgun from his cross-body bag and pointed it at the victim’s chest. The suspect then pulled down a ski mask to cover his face and told the victim to give him everything. The suspect left in a vehicle with approximately $500 in cash.

Dec. 1

Shots fired: 11:27 p.m., officers were dispatched to an illegal discharge at Timber Ridge Condos, 25120 98th Pl. S. It was advised four minutes before the time of call, one gunshot was heard, and then vehicles were heard driving off. Three additional gunshots were heard after, and possibly four cars went down the hill. Officers arrived and located one brass Winchester 9mm Luger casing in the parking lot of Campus Park at 9700 E. Canyon Drive.

Dec. 2

Suspicious vehicle, pursuit: 10:16 a.m., officers were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle call at 13508 SE 265th St. When officers arrived, they observed two subjects passed out in the vehicle, under the influence of narcotics, seen within the vehicle between the driver and passenger. Officers placed tire deflation devices at the vehicle’s wheels and contacted the occupants. Upon waking up, the occupants spoke to each other, and then the driver started the car and left the scene, deflating the tires. The vehicle continued, pursued by officers, until the tires caused it to be inoperable and slid into a fence. The occupants fled the scene on foot. One occupant was captured, and the other escaped but has been identified.

Commercial burglary: 7:01 p.m., officers were dispatched to Interstate Plastics, 22435 68th Ave. S., for a commercial burglary. The reporting party advised he was watching a dark-colored Kia Soul breaking into his business and Western Contracting at 22416 66th Ave. S. When officers arrived; they observed the damage to the roll-up doors to each business along with a third unoccupied commercial space. The subject was already gone, and upon walking through the businesses, it could not be determined what, if anything, was taken.

Commercial burglary: Officers were dispatched to a commercial burglary report at Office Depot Distribution Center, 6805 S. 217th St. The reporting party advised that he was contacted by security personnel, declaring the front door was broken. Officers cleared the building, and no one was located inside.

Dec. 4

Attempted robbery: 1:50 a.m., officers were dispatched to a robbery report at the 76 Gas Station at 8815 S. 180th St. The victim reported stopping for gas on his way home from work. The victim noticed another vehicle parked near him, and he was approached by the driver, who asked him to buy him gas. The male passenger then got out of the car and pointed a gun at the victim, ordering him to give him all his property. The victim started walking backward and then ran inside the gas station. The suspects got into their vehicle and left the scene.

Jail shed burglary: 4:30 a.m., an alarm came in at the city of Kent jail, 1230 Central Ave. S., specifically the annex building shed on the south side. There had been prior burglaries at this location, and officers responded quickly. The shed had a steel bar that kept the door shut, but it had been pried open, and it was unknown if anything was taken from inside. There are cameras on the annex building.

Man with rifle: A person at the Meridian Green Apartments, 11305 SE Kent Kangley Road, said their neighbor was high and hallucinating, saying people were after him. The male was seen loading a rifle and walking around with it. Officers found the male’s gun had been taken away safely and were able to talk the male outside, where he was detained safely without incident.

Carjacking: 8:20 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 76 Gas Station, 1513 W. Meeker St., for a recent carjacking with a gun. Officers quickly contacted the victim and got the vehicle information. There was no ability to track the vehicle, but officers canvassed hot spots and conducted extra patrols throughout the night in hopes of locating the car.
