A sampling of Kent Police incidents Oct. 26 to Nov. 7:

Oct. 28

Burglary: 11:20 p.m., patrol was dispatched to a commercial alarm at Verizon, 25248 Pacific Hwy S. The alarm covered glass breakage and a manager off location could see a suspect inside the business via camera. Several units surrounded the business and located a smashed-out window on the west side. A male suspect could be seen inside collecting items. When the male exited, he was arrested. The suspect had stolen items on his person and a stockpile of goods inside near the smashed-out window.

Oct. 26

Man points gun: 8:49 a.m., officers responded to the Skyview apartments, 3322 S. 222nd Pl., on the report of a female being chased by her ex-boyfriend who was pointing a gun at her. By the time officers got there the suspect had fled. The suspect was located at the Shell Station at South 212th Street and 64th Avenue South and taken into custody without incident.

Oct. 30

Hit and run: 4:23 a.m., patrol was dispatched to a hit and run to a pedestrian in the 1400 block of Central Avenue N. The pedestrian was in the crosswalk. The vehicle was found by officers in the 1000 block of Central Avenue N, unoccupied. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Traffic is investigating.

Nov. 3

Woman shot: 5:40 p.m., patrol units were dispatched to Scenic Hill Apartments for sounds of vehicles crashing and possible shots fired from the parking lot. Witnesses heard a male yelling, “shoot, shoot, shoot,” and relayed that a female had been shot. When units arrived, no victim or suspect(s) were located. The female victim was dropped off at Valley Medical Center in Renton by her boyfriend with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. The victim’s boyfriend was found to be associated with three stolen vehicles that were located at 127 Kensington Ave. S.

Nov. 4

Man shot: 11:53 a.m., officers were dispatched to a gunshot wound victim at Valley Medical Center in Renton. The victim had been shot once in the leg and spoke. A friend had picked him up from Kent Circle Food Store at 10602 SE 256th St. A vehicle that had been following him around for a while confronted them, eventually blocked them into the parking lot, and the driver of that vehicle fired one round striking the victim in the leg.

Nov. 5

Homeless shooting: 6:20 a.m., officers were dispatched to shooting where the victim was located at 24645 Pacific Hwy S. The victim sustained a single gunshot wound to the neck and mentioned the suspect had shot him with a rifle. The victim had been holding money for a friend and two unknown subjects attempted to rob him. The victim was shot because he did not give up the money. All the involved parties appeared to be from the local homeless population.

Nov. 7

Catalytic converter thefts: 12:35 a.m., officers were dispatched to the parking lot at Mannheim Auto Auction, 19711 77th Ave. S., for prowlers. Once the units arrived and started checking cars, the two suspects took off running. Officers chased and caught two male suspects, one of which was armed with a handgun. The other, non-armed, suspect admitted to stealing catalytic converters from cars within the lot. They had cut the chain link fence and were successful in removing four catalytic converters before being caught. Both were transported to the King County jail after being arrested for investigation of commercial burglary.

Loud explosion at parking garage: 3:20 a.m., a loud explosion was heard coming from the City Hall employee parking garage, 201 W. Titus St. A male in his late teens to early 20s was seen exiting the north stairwell of the parking garage. He ran east towards Second Avenue South. An area check was done, but the male was not located. The explosion sounded like an M80 and there was heavy smoke on the second floor, just before the ramp to go to the third floor. No damage was found to any of the vehicles and no evidence of an explosion was found.
