A Kent Police officer in a marked patrol car and a driver of another vehicle each escaped serious injury after their cars collided early Monday morning along 84th Avenue South.
The officer was driving northbound on 84th Avenue South and collided with a vehicle driving westbound on South 212th Street, according to an email from Lt. Pat Lowery, Kent Police spokesman.
Both drivers were shaken up by the crash and transported by paramedics to Valley Medical Center in Renton as a precaution, Lowery said. Both were released later in the morning from the hospital.
At the time of the collision, the officer was conducting normal patrol duties. There is no indication that the driver of the westbound car was intoxicated or driving recklessly at the time of the crash, Lowery said.
Further details about the drivers were unavailable.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation and is expected to be wrapped up in a few days, Lowery said.
