Kent Police are investigating an apparent domestic violence killing on the West Hill of a 39-year-old woman found dead in her car at a Park & Ride lot on Military Road South.

Kent Police are investigating an apparent domestic violence killing on the West Hill of a 39-year-old Federal Way woman found dead in her car at a Park & Ride lot on Military Road South.

Ruth Castillo-Yanez died from multiple stab wounds, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Kent Police were contacted late Sunday evening by Seattle Police regarding a Burien man who turned himself in to Seattle Police Department advising that he had killed his ex-wife and left her body in her vehicle at a Kent Park & Ride lot, according to a Kent Police media release on Tuesday.

Kent patrol units responded to the Kent-Des Moines Park & Ride in the 23400 block of Military Road South. They found a lone vehicle that contained the dead woman.

Detectives are working to clarify the circumstances that led to the death, as well as a motive for the fatal assault. Detectives spent multiple hours at the scene conducting the initial investigation. The suspect, 41, remains in custody.

“This appears to be a tragic incident of domestic violence, and there is no reason to believe that additional family members or the community at large are at risk,” Kent detective Tim Ford said.
