For the Reporter

Kent Police are investigating the death of man whose body was found at a transient camp Saturday.

Detectives have a person of interest and are following up on available leads.

Officers, who were dispatched to a call at 2:40 p.m. of “suspicious circumstances,” arrived to discover a deceased man with an obvious gunshot wound. The body was found at a remote location down a long drive in a wooded area near the 22200 block of 88th Avenue Southeast. Kent Police said they were unaware the camp existed.

The death is believed to be related to a homicide that occurred on Friday in the same basic area, police said. A deceased woman sustained obvious gunshot wounds in Friday’s incident, police said.

The victims in each case have been tentatively identified but their names will not be released pending confirmation and notification of their families.

A suspect in these cases has been described as a white male, with short reddish hair and unshaven appearance. The suspect may be riding a dark colored bicycle with a basket over the rear wheel and was last seen wearing a white tank top. The weapon in these cases has not been recovered. The suspect is considered armed and should not be approached by the public.

Anyone with information about either of these cases is being asked to contact the Kent Police Department right away at 253-856-5829.
