A Kent Police officer shot and injured a man Monday night, May 10 at the Homestead Apartments in the 20600 block of 108th Avenue Southeast in the Panther Lake area.
The shooting occurred at about 9:40 p.m., according to Kent Police. Officers performed life-saving measures on the man. He was conscious and alert as paramedics transported him to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Police placed the officer, who was not injured, on administrative leave as required under department policy.
Kent Police did not release any details about why the officer responded to the apartment complex or what led to the shooting. Police also didn’t release the age or hometown of the man injured.
Kent Police said they have turned the case over to the Valley Independent Investigative Team. That group is a multi-agency team of investigators from seven South King County police departments (Auburn, Des Moines, Federal Way, Kent, Renton, Port of Seattle and Tukwila). The Kent Police Department is excluded from this investigation because they were the involved agency.
