Kent police searching for shooting suspect in Metro bus assault | 30-year-old SeaTac man shot multiple times

Kent police remain on the scene of an early evening shooting that occurred on Kent’s east hill.

Kent police remain on the scene of an early evening shooting that occurred on Kent’s east hill.

At 6:09 p.m. police were dispatched to panic alarm activation on a Metro coach in the 20600 block of 108 Ave SE. A minute later Metro Transit notified the Kent Police Department there had been a shooting on the bus and there was a person injured.

Officers arrived within 4 minutes and found a 30-year-old SeaTac man unconscious and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. A perimeter was set around the area for the suspect seen fleeing the bus. Officers from the Renton Police Department and the King County – Metro Police assisted Kent officers as they searched the area with officers and a canine team. That search did not produce the suspect, but eventually yielded a weapon possibly used in the crime.

Police continue to search the area for a black male, between 17 and 22 years of age. The suspect is described as 5 foot, 7 inches tall and was last seen wearing a black and red colored racing-team style jacket.

“It appears that this shooting was a result of the argument witnessed by some of the passengers on the bus and was not a spontaneous act” Lt. Pat Lowery said, spokesman for the Kent Police Department.

Kent police officers will continue extra patrols in the area throughout the evening as their search for the suspect continues.
