Kent Police are asking for the public’s help and more witnesses to come forward to help identify a man who shot and killed a Kent man the night of Sept. 9 in the McDonald’s parking lot across from Kent-Meridian High School.

Police issued a media release Wednesday to ask for help in solving the case. After more than three months, detectives have not yet identified the man who fired the shot that killed Gregory A. Harris, 22.

Police were dispatched at about 9:20 p.m. to the parking lot at 10225 S.E. Kent-Kangley Road for a report of several shots being fired. A 911 caller reported a man had been shot in the face with a single gunshot.

Paramedics transported Harris to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where he died about a week later from the gunshot wound.

Numerous witnesses have been interviewed and many pieces of evidence have been processed during the course of the investigation, detective Melanie Frazier said.

Several witnesses have indicated that a black male associated to a white sedan, possibly a newer model BMW was observed fleeing the area just after the gunshots were fired. It is unknown if the driver of the BMW is involved, or if he may have witnessed the actual shooting.

“We are seeking closure for this young man’s family, and believe that there are additional witnesses that have yet to come forward,” Frazier said.

Investigators have exhausted efforts in identifying the suspect, and are now asking for the public’s help, Frazier said.
