Kent Police are seeking help to identify a man reportedly involved in an attempted robbery at about 9 p.m. Friday, May 30 at the Panther Lake Safeway store.

Officers were dispatched to the store, 20830 108th Ave. S.E., for a report of a robbery involving a gun.

The checker reported that a man came through her line attempting to make a purchase, but instead brandished a gun and presented her with a note requesting an undisclosed amount of money, according to a Thursday Kent Police media release. The quick-witted checker yelled which alerted others, causing the man to flee from the store.

Officers fanned out in the area in search of the man but were unsuccessful in locating him. He was caught on the store video surveillance and is described as a white man, 18 to 25 years old, with dark hair. He is 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a thin build and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about the man or the incident should call 911 or the Kent Police Department tip line at 253-856-5808.
