A 20-year-old man surrendered peacefully Wednesday morning after a SWAT team surrounded a Kent apartment in the Panther Lake area.

Kent Police arrested Donvea Adams for investigation of fourth-degree assault for a physical attack against his girlfriend as well as warrants out of Seattle for first-degree robbery and second-degree assault.

Adams is listed on the Q13 Fox News Washington Most Wanted list for a robbery and assault in Seattle where he reportedly robbed and beat a couple he knew.

The Kent incident started at about 1 a.m. Wednesday with a woman calling 911 to report a domestic violence incident, said Kent Police Sgt. John Pagel. She called from a store near the Indgio Springs Apartments, 11101 S.E. 208th St., and said Adams, her boyfriend remained in the apartment.

When Adams refused to come out of the apartment and because of his warrants, Kent Police called in a SWAT team.

“They surrounded the apartment and the guy surrendered at about 8 a.m.,” Pagel said. “The SWAT team took over and he surrendered peacefully.”

According to the Q13 Fox Most Wanted list, Adams is a dangerous gang member wanted by Seattle Police on a warrant for robbery and assault, where detectives say he rolled up on the two victims in a black Mercedes Benz.

The couple knew Adams as “DA”, and the guy went to greet him, but that’s when detectives say it went bad, accusing Adams of violently yanking off the guys necklace, pointing a gun at him, then getting out of the car and unleashing a brutal beating on both of them.

“This is a serious assault that could have turned out to be a murder case,” said Myrle Carner with Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound to Q13 about the Seattle incident. “The victims in this case we’re not only assaulted, but they were pistol-whipped by the suspect. They ended up in the hospital with serious injuries.”

The man had to have staples put in his head, and was treated for a possible concussion. The woman had her face busted up bad – three broken bones around her eye and cheek that she had to have surgery on to fix.

Seattle Police described Adams as armed and dangerous.

Adams remained in the city of Kent jail Wednesday with bail set at $75,000 for the first-degree robbery warrant.

Kent Police are looking for a Wendall Oliver Adams Jr., 26, in connection with a shooting Sunday on the East Hill that injured a man. Pagel said he did not know if Donvea Adams and Wendall Adams were related.
