The Kent Police Department invites the community to an informational meeting Feb. 20.

The meeting is from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Kent City Hall, 220 Fourth Ave. S.

The focus of the first meeting of the year is to bring police leadership and community members together to address crime concerns and introduce the resources that police can provide to assist members in making their neighborhoods safer and more secure.

Police Chief Ken Thomas and department personnel will be present to answer questions about department operations. Members of the department’s Neighborhood Response Team and Community Education unit also will be available to answer questions and take input regarding specific issues within the city.

“We’re pleased with the continued opportunity to meet with our community in an informal setting and learn more about their concerns,” Thomas said. “Our goal is to strengthen the partnership we’ve established with our citizens by building on the foundation we’ve set in place.”

Kent Police host four community meetings each year, rotating them through various neighborhoods.
