The Kent Police Department and Kent Police Youth Board will host the 26th annual Game of Life youth conference Dec. 4-5 at Kent Commons.
With a goal of helping youth to make a positive community impact, the Game of Life Youth Conference features middle and senior high school students from Kent, Renton, Auburn, Enumclaw and other school districts.
Teams of students will participate in workshops ranging from leadership development to underage drinking prevention, diversity and traffic safety, according to a Kent Police media release.
As part of the conference, student teams will be empowered to return to their schools and implement follow up projects that focus on environmental needs such as bullying prevention, education about the dangers of underage drinking/drug use and the importance of a positive school environment. Staff members will work to show each student, counselor and teacher in attendance that they can positively influence their peers and communities while building relationships within their schools simultaneously.
Funding for the conference is through the Drug Free Communities Grant, the Office of National Drug Control Policy and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration.
