Just after 2 p.m. on Thursday, Kent and Renton fire crews were dispatched to a residential fire on the 13300 block of Southeast 195th Street in unincorporated Renton.
Firefighters reported flames could be seen coming out of a second-floor window of the two-story house, according to a Kent Fire Department Regional Fire Authority media release. That same crew initially knocked down the fire from the outside as they made their way in. At the same time, a search of the house came up clear. Because of the quick fire attack, most of the damage was limited to the upper level.
The homeowners were walking their dog when they returned home to find smoke coming from the house and smoke alarms sounding. They realized that there was indeed a fire and immediately called 911. Three residents and their dog were displaced by the fire.
Crews from King County Medic One, King County fire investigator, King County Sheriff’s Office, Zone 3 Rehabilitation and Puget Sound Energy were all on scene.
There were no injuries. Fire investigators have yet to determine a cause. Damages were estimated at $110,000.
