Kent city officials reopened all roadways to traffic as of 3 p.m. Monday, according to Kent Police.

Road crews had closed Southeast 240th Street, also known as the James Street hill, late Monday morning because of hazardous snow and ice conditions.

Crews closed the street between Central Avenue North and 98th Avenue Southeast.

City officials also had closed Southeast 208th Street between 96th Avenue South and 92nd Avenue South early Monday afternoon.

Sand and de-icer crews are out maintaining safe travel conditions, said Kent Police Lt. Pat Lowery.

But with temperature’s dropping and snow falling intermittently, residents are encouraged to stay off the roads, Lowery said.

The winter storm warning continues until 10 p.m. Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

As much as 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected to accumulate by Monday night. Low temperatures are predicted to be about 22 degrees. A north wind could reach 25 to 35 mph tonight.

Forecasters expect Tuesday to be sunny with a high of 29 degrees and a low of 18. Temperatures on Wednesday are predicted to be 34 for the high and 29 for the low with a chance of rain.
