Residents brought a total of 1,089 vehicle loads of recyclable material to the city of Kent Recycling Event June 2 at the Kent Phoenix Academy.
A total of 85 tons of material will be turned into new products, saving natural resources and landfill space, according to a city media release.
Residents also bought 60 rain barrels and 40 composters to help save water and benefit landscapes.
The city’s next Recycling Event is Oct. 20.
