Kent School District school board was named a Board of Distinction for the third consecutive year by the Washington State School Directors’ Association. Only 15 out of 295 Washington State boards received this distinction.
The annual Boards of Distinction program honors school boards that demonstrate effective use of the Washington School Board Standards. The standards promote research-based governance practices that lead to high levels of student and district achievement.
The honor is awarded on an application basis, and applicants must submit an essay and evidence to demonstrate how they practice the school board standards. This year’s standards contained goals related to student achievement, district organization and input from the community. The applications were evaluated by an independent review panel.
