The Kent School Board has moved its 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 27 meeting to the east wing auditorium at Kent-Meridian High School in an effort to handle a larger crowd as the board considers final approval of budget cuts for 2011-12.
The board normally meets at the Kent School District administration center. An overflow crowd packed the center at an April 13 meeting.
The five-member board approved April 13 an estimated $15 million preliminary budget reduction plan for the 2011-12 school year that cuts about 120 jobs among teachers, administrators, custodians and other staff. A reduction in federal and state funding has caused the budget shortfall.
