Kent’s School District chief academic officer, Merri Rieger, is one of six finalists for the Renton School District’s superintendent position.
Rieger, along with five other administrators from around the state, will receive a preliminary interview on March 18-20. The School Board will then meet to narrow the candidates to three choices and proceed with another round of interviews in April.
“I’m excited for the opportunity to learn and grow in my professional skills and talents, and I’m ready to be able to demonstrate that in a superintendent position,” Rieger said in a phone interview.
Rieger has spent more than 30 years in education. She previously served as the executive director for K-12 and assistant superintendent for learning and school improvement while working for the Kent School District.
