Kent School District is participating in Washington State’s School Board recognition month.
Initiated by the National School Boards Association in 1995, this holiday intends to honor school board members from participating schools.
KSD has joined and received the Board of Distinction award for “demonstrating an understanding of their leadership role and follow through on their responsibilities, while showing concern for the educational excellence and equity for all students.”
“We have a wonderful group of board members, and they selflessly give their time to serve our students and community every day,” said Dr. Edward Lee Vargas, superintendent. “Our district is large and diverse, so their job is no easy task.”
The KSD Board of Directors will be recognized at the January 23rd meeting, which will be held at 7 p.m. in the lobby of building A on the administration campus. The Kent-Meridian Symphonics Orchestra will be playing during the reception as well. Community, staff, students and parents are invited to attend.
