The Kent School District presents its annual Tech Expo from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 14 at the ShoWare Center, 625 W. James St.
The expo features students from kindergarten to 12th grade demonstrating technology applications, from robotics to virtual science.
Students and teachers will have booths with interactive displays of technology where attendees can learn to solve problems, complete tasks, or build devices.
Tech Expo also highlights local businesses and organizations that support the use of technology in education. They will demonstrate the connection between classrooms and careers.
Among the features:
• LEGO robots
• Viewing rocks through professional-grade microscopes
• Elementary students writing computer programs
• Live Skype with class in China
• Students using Microsoft’s latest products
“Tech Expo is the largest exposition of its kind in the world. It showcases how technology prepares students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the future,” says Superintendent Edward Lee Vargas. “The business community supports our students acquiring these technological skills, and that partnership is critical to their futures in college and their careers.”
Last year Tech Expo featured more than 570 teachers, 37 businesses and almost 6,000 attendees.
