Kent School District will use three optional snow days scheduled for spring to make up the recent three-day closure of schools due to the windstorm that knocked out power last month.
The updated 2024-2025 district calendar now includes regular school days on March 28, April 18 and May 23. The district had scheduled those days as potential makeup days if school was canceled due to snow.
Washington state requires a minimum of 180 school days per school year in each district.
Many of the Kent School District’s 44 schools lost power Nov. 20-22 following the Nov. 19-20 windstorm that struck Western Washington and hit east King County extra hard.
