Volunteers are wanted by the city of Kent to help weed and prune at Park Orchard Park as part of National Public Lands Day on Saturday, Sept. 28.
The event is from 9 a.m. to noon at the park, 11058 S.E. 230th St., in the Panther Lake area. Volunteers should park at Park Orchard Elementary, 11010 S.E. 232nd St., and walk to the park.
Volunteers are needed to remove invasive plants that threaten the urban forest as well as prune plants to make it safer for children to walk to school.
Registration is required by noon Wednesday, Sept. 25. To register, call Victoria Andrews, city special programs manager, at 253-856-5113 or email vandrews@kentwa.gov.
