Residents can testify about a proposed height restriction and other amendments to the city of Kent’s Downtown Commercial Enterprise Zoning District at 7 p.m. July 26 at the Council Chambers at City Hall, 220 Fourth Ave. S.
The public hearing is before the city’s Land Use and Planning Board.
City staff has proposed a height restriction for projects built adjacent to single-family residential zoned properties. Kent resident Michael Johnson asked city officials to make the change for developments built within 300 feet of single-family homes after a developer revealed plans for an apartment complex along Smith Street in the Mill Creek neighborhood.
The board will consider several height restriction options. City staff has recommended a limit of four stories (50 feet).
The City Council will have final say on any proposed height restrictions.
