Kent Severe Weather Shelter extends opening through Monday night

Low predicted to be 22 degrees Monday night, Jan. 15; shelter at Holy Spirit Church

Overnight housing at the Kent Severe Weather Shelter at Holy Spirit Church, 318 Third Ave. S., in downtown, will be extended through Monday, Jan. 15.

The shelter will be open from 9 p.m. Monday through 7 a.m. Tuesday, according to the city of Kent.

Temperatures are predicted to drop to 22 degrees tonight, according to the National Weather Service. The high and low on Tuesday are expected to be 37 and 32 degrees with Wednesday warming up to a high of 45 and low of 36.

Details:

• Check-in from 9-10 p.m. is preferred

• Doors will close once capacity is reached

• Guests must stay in their assigned locations

• Bottled water and prepackaged snacks will be available

• No reentry upon exit

• Guests must vacate shelter by 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 16
