For the Reporter

The World Mission Society Church of God in South Seattle won’t stop until Kent is entirely litter free.

On Sunday, church members will reprise the environmental cleanup campaign they held in Kent on March 23.

As before, the cleanup will begin at the intersection of Central Avenue and James Street and move south toward 269th Street, ending with a return trip to James Street.

When asked why they chose to focus on the same area a second time, representatives responded with enthusiasm.

“The first time we cleaned we were unable to completely remove all of the garbage in the allotted time. We spent most of the cleanup focusing on the southbound side of Central Avenue. After completing that side, we had almost no time for the other side of the street.”

Church members hope that this cleanup will go even more smoothly than the last.

“Last time, we made arrangements with the city of Kent regarding the disposal of the collected trash bags. However, the amount that we collected was far more than they had expected, so it was difficult for them to remove the trash bags in a timely manner.”

The church reports that this time the city knows to expect a large turnout and a heaping pile of trash to no longer deface the sidewalks of Kent’s main arterial.
