Students from the Kent School District Technology Academies at Mill Creek Middle School and Kent-Meridian High School visited the Microsoft campus in Redmond.
The students spent time with company researchers observing their work as computer scientists right in their labs and trying out some of the prototype products they are developing. Some included using Kinect to navigate through space, having a 3D video call and seeing how computers may one day be worn as part of clothing.
The students also had opportunities to work on creating applications for phones and seeing new innovations in the company’s Office software. The visit to the Redmond campus was the second part of Microsoft’s Day of Caring partnership with Kent School District.
In early December 2011, Microsoft employees visited the technology academies at Mill Creek and Kent-Meridian High School and shared how education helped them advance professionally. The students and Microsoft employees also worked on mobile phone application development for education.
