Residents can attend a city of Kent dedication of the new playground equipment at the Kiwanis Tot Lot No. 1 at 1 p.m. July 2. The park is at the corner of First Avenue and West Crow Street, just south of Willis Street.
Kent Mayor Suzette Cooke is scheduled to cut the ribbon at the dedication ceremony.
Crews installed the new equipment last month. City crews also renovated the basketball court, put in fencing built a new plaza area for the city’s summer playground program.
The city bought the park property in 1949. The Kiwanis Club helped develop the park and purchased playground equipment in 1965. City crews added play structures in 1977 and replaced the playground equipment in 1995.
