In response to cold temperatures outside, the city of Kent will open a severe weather shelter Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings at Kent Lutheran Church, 336 Second Ave. S.
Operated by Catholic Community Services staff and volunteers from Kent Lutheran, the shelter opens at 9 p.m. for check-in and registration and closes at 7 a.m. each morning.
While the shelter is available for single men and women, priority is given to homeless families with children living on the streets or in vehicles. Clients must register at the door. As with all shelters, rules for the health and safety of all clients and staff and the broader community will apply.
