Kent woman, 26, dies in I-5 crash in Seattle after exiting vehicle | Update

Medical examiner identifies woman struck by two vehicles; one driver arrested for vehicular homicide, DUI

A 26-year-old Kent woman was killed in a four-vehicle collision along southbound Interstate 5 in Seattle at about 4:01 a.m. Sunday, June 2.

Shanique S. Dickens died of blunt force injuries of the head, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Dickens was a passenger in a car near the West Seattle Bridge that stopped in lane one and two from a previous collision, according to the Washington State Patrol. Dickens had exited the vehicle when another vehicle struck her.

An ambulance stopped to render aid when it was struck by a fourth vehicle, which flipped the ambulance onto its top and into Dickens vehicle which was then pushed into Dickens who was hit a second time, according to the State Patrol. Dickens died at the scene.

Troopers arrested a 33-year-old Arizona man, the driver of the vehicle that struck the ambulance, for investigation of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to the State Patrol. Paramedics transported a 33-year-old Auburn man, a passenger in the Arizona man’s vehicle, to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The driver was treated at the scene. Nobody else was injured.
