An 80-year-old Kent woman has died from injuries suffered in an apartment fire Monday evening in the 24500 block of 64th Avenue South.
Leona Cordray died from thermal burns, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office Wednesday media report.
Cordray was smoking a cigarette when it accidentally ignited furniture in her apartment, according to the Kent Regional Fire Authority. She also used home oxygen which fed the fire and caused it to spread quickly, fire officials said.
Two Kent Police officers rescued the woman from her second-floor apartment after they heard her calling for help.
