Kent Police arrested a woman for investigation of fourth-degree assault after she reportedly punched her boyfriend for talking to another woman on the phone.
The incident happened at about 3:46 p.m. June 4 at an apartment in the 24800 block of 45th Avenue South, according to the police report.
The boyfriend told officers he sat on the couch talking to a female friend and his girlfriend punched him in the head because she gets upset when he talks to the woman. The man had a red mark on his head above his eyebrow. He said he had dated and lived with his girlfriend for about four months.
When interviewed by police, the girlfriend denied anything happened between the couple. The boyfriend also had called police May 14 to report his girlfriend had assaulted him. Officers didn’t make an arrest during that call because the man had no marks or injuries and they were unable to locate the girlfriend.
Officers tried to call the woman the boyfriend said he talked to on the phone. But calls from police to the woman were not answered.
False statement
Officers arrested a man for investigation of failure to obey an officer, making false statements and crossing against a pedestrian signal at about 11:58 p.m. June 4 in the 24000 block of Pacific Highway South.
An officer stopped the man after watching him cross against a pedestrian signal, according to the police report.
The officer asked the man to sit on the curb but the man refused. The officer called for backup officers. Police said they tried to search the man in concern for their safety but the man failed to cooperate.
When police tried to handcuff the man, he struggled with them and eventually broke free and ran across the street. Three officers pursued him on foot. One officer fired a Taser at the man’s back, but that didn’t stop the man.
The man ran into a nearby parking lot and then started to run down a residential street when he fell to the ground and told police, “I give up.”
Officers determined the man had given them a false name after he told them one name and his identification had another name. The man had warrants for driving while license suspended out of Federal Way and Normandy Park.
Malicious mischief
Police arrested a man for investigation of malicious mischief after he allegedly used his fist to break the windshield and rear window of his girlfriend’s car on June 1 in the 21200 block of 84th Avenue South.
A woman told officers she was with her boyfriend in her car when they argued about relationship issues, according to the police report.
The woman told the man she was breaking up with him and he was no longer welcome in her car. That upset the boyfriend so he punched and broke the car’s windshield and rear window.
Police eventually tracked down the man in the 20700 block of 96th Avenue South. They found him with a bleeding right fist. The man said he didn’t understand the Miranda warning, so officers didn’t ask him any questions about the incident.
Assault
Officers arrested a man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he reportedly grabbed his girlfriend and ripped her clothes during a dispute at about 5:22 a.m. June 1 at an apartment in the 2700 block of South 256th Street.
Officers heard a woman yelling at someone to leave when they arrived at the apartment, according to the police report.
The woman told police her boyfriend came home drunk at about 5 a.m. after being out “clubbing” all night. She said she asked him to leave and he refused so they started to argue when he grabbed her by the clothes.
The boyfriend said the woman assaulted him first and ripped his shirt. He said he ripped her shirt and stretch pants, but admitted it was stupid to do. The woman had a small cut under her eye. The boyfriend said the cut had been caused by one of the children in the home. He denied that he assaulted the woman.
Theft
Police arrested a woman for investigation of third-degree theft after she allegedly took cosmetic items and headphones from a store in the 100 block of Washington Avenue North.
An officer stopped the woman and her younger sister along Meeker Street, according to the police report.
Officers found headphone sets and cosmetic items in the handbag of the woman. The items were still in their display packages and had price tags on them. The value of the items was about $48.
Sensors went off when the two left the Rite Aid store, so employees followed them and called 911.
