Kent’s Sara Sharp won the Show Stopper award at the Ms. Veteran America competition.
Sharp, a retired Sergeant First Class Military Police officer, was one of 20 finalists in the second year of the event. Maryland’s Allaina Guitron won the Ms. Veteran America title at the Oct. 13 competition at The National Conference Center in Leesburg, Va.
Sharp performed a lyrical dance piece to win the Show Stopper honors, given to the woman with the best talent. Sharp served 18 years in the Army after joining the Military Police Corps in 1981. She volunteers for several non-profit groups and is pursuing her doctorate degree in education.
Proceeds from the event benefit Final Salute Inc., which provides safe and suitable housing for homeless female veterans.
