Arbor Village Continuing Care Retirement Community, 24205 116th Ave. S.E., in Kent, will host a series of events Friday, May 3 designed for people who care for individuals with dementia.
An event for professionals runs from 2:15-4:15 p.m. with a full view of the needs of clients with memory challenges, presented by dementia expert, Teepa Snow. A second event for caregivers goes from 6:30-8:30 p.m. to offer strategies for improving the quality of visits and enhancing the time spent together.
Free parking and shuttle to the community is available at First Christian Church of Kent, 11717 S.E. 240th St.
Snow is a nationally renowned dementia expert who trains and consults for healthcare professionals and families privately. A native of North Carolina, she offers audiences an interactive and inspirational approach to how dementia care is viewed, creating a unique and enjoyable experience for all who attend.
As a certified occupational therapist, Snow has a unique medical perspective on how the brain controls our body and our behaviors giving her the perfect medical degree to explain how a brain disease like dementia affects a person.
