Kent’s annual Fall Recycling Collection Event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11, at the soon-to-be-renamed Hogan Park at Russell Road (Russell Road Park), 24400 Russell Road.
Residents should bring those items that are not easily recycled at the curb including appliances, toilets, propane tanks, batteries and small electronics and up to three file-sized boxes per vehicle of documents for shredding.
Concrete, rocks, asphalt and bricks should be placed on a tarp, plastic sheet or in buckets to speed up unloading. Tires and petroleum products will be collected as well. The V&G StyroRecycle truck will collect Styrofoam blocks and peanuts.
Computers and TVs will not be accepted. These can be recycled for free at E-Cycle Washington designated collection sites. For a list of locations, visit ecyclewashington.org.
For a complete list of accepted items, visit KentRecycles.com.
The event is funded by grants from the state Department of Ecology, King County Solid Waste Division and the Local Hazardous Waste Management Program.
