The number of positive COVID-19 cases in King County is beginning to fall after a fourth wave began in March.
As of May 4, there were 5,029 positive cases — or 4.4% of all test results — across the county over the previous 14 days. On May 2, there were 351 positive cases. While these numbers remain higher than both the spring and summer 2020 peaks, they are lower than the wave seen last winter.
In the Snoqualmie Valley, cases over the last two weeks have remained low in North Bend, Carnation and Fall City. In Fall City, there were no new cases over the last 14 days. For Carnation, there were only two positive cases over the last two weeks, and in North Bend there were six positive cases at a rate of 2.7% among all tests.
Despite these low numbers elsewhere, Snoqualmie has higher numbers of positive cases, although lower than the county rate. Over the last two weeks, Snoqualmie has had 31 positive cases for a rate of 9.4% of all tests. On March 27 alone, there were 14 cases of COVID-19 reported in the city, and three days before, there were another seven cases.
Looking at cases on the level of ZIP code, 98045 had a positivity rate of 38.9 per 100,000 people as of May 4. To the north, 98065 was slightly lower at 32.8, and 98024 was lower still at 27.3.
