King County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a 32-year-old Seattle man in connection with stolen Seahawks tickets that he reportedly sold to a 19-year-old Tacoma man.
The Tacoma man traded his tablet computer and money to the man for the tickets on Thursday, according to a Sheriff’s Office media release. He had listed his tablet on Offerup.com when the Seattle man contacted him about exchanging Seahawks tickets for the tablet. They met, made the trade and the Tacoma man bought an additional ticket for $35.
When the victim got home, he realized that the deal may have been a little too good to be true. He called the Seahawks ticket sales office and discovered that the tickets were stolen. The victim called the Sheriff’s Office, and they went to work to set up another transaction with the suspect. The suspect offered more stolen Seahawks tickets to a detective which led to the suspect’s arrest.
People looking to purchase tickets should shop on reputable third-party ticket exchanges, get them from friends or just shop at the official Seahawks ticket retailer to avoid becoming a victim in a similar scam, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
