Little Bill and the Blue Notes and jazz guitarist Michael Powers will perform at the fourth annual Evening of Jazz & Art Event from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 23 at the Kent Senior Activity Center, 600 E. Smith St.

Little Bill, a blues-jazz vocalist and bassist, plays from 5:15-6:15 p.m. at the outdoor stage. Powers plays from 7-8 p.m. at the free event hosted by the senior center and the Kent Arts Commission.

A special commemoration will be from 6:15-7 p.m. when a brief DVD highlighting the Kent Senior Activity Center building’s 25th Anniversary will be shown in a continuous loop on the indoor large screen.

Guests may enjoy boxed desserts compliments of Stafford Suites (while supplies last) and share a toast in the special “Mocktail Garden” on the patio (donations accepted).

Jazz pianist Richard Dean plays indoors from 5-5:15 p.m. and from 6:15-7 p.m.

Limited indoor concert seating is available; guests are asked to bring blankets, lawn chairs and umbrellas for outdoor seating.

Doors open at 5 p.m. when boxed dinners, compliments of Stafford Suites, will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. The Kent Valley Artists’ exhibition and demonstration begins at 5 p.m. and is open for the duration of the event.

The event is offered free of charge because of a grant from the Kent Arts Commission and generous co-sponsorships from Stafford Suites, Chateau @ Valley Center, SHAG Housing, Talbot Rehab and The Weatherly Inn.
