The Best of Kent voting results are in, and one local business is a Kent community favorite, winning five categories and being a finalist in several others.
This humble downtown diner, Maggie’s on Meeker, was recognized by community voters as the best “Family Restaurant”, “Coffee Shop”, “Lunch restaurant” and “Breakfast Restaurant” while two of their waitresses were voted as the top two community-favorite servers in Kent.
The family diner at 307 West Meeker Street was also voted as a finalist for the “Best French Fries” and “Best Hamburger” categories as well.
Maggie’s on Meeker offers a plethora of breakfast and lunch food, be it club sandwiches and French fries, to waffles and country-fried steak.
Their service is accommodating and unbelievably quick, as made evident by the fact that their waitresses Jessica and Michelle were both voted as the “Best of Kent.”
It is a place where family members gather to catch up over a hot cup of coffee and a crispy plate of hashbrowns with their over-medium egg. It’s where grandparents take their grandchildren to get a crispy waffle covered in butter and smothered in syrup.
I went recently, to see what all the hype was about and was not disappointed. I ordered their California BLT – a bacon, lettuce, tomato sandwich, with the addition of avocado. I also ordered a waffle on the side so I could taste the best of both lunch and breakfast.
The sandwich was fresh and delicious, the crinkle-cut fries were crispy and well-seasoned. The waffle was light, crispy and had a delightful vanilla sweetness to the batter. All in all, it was a fantastic brunch.
Maggie’s on Meeker is a cornerstone of the community and one of the Best of Kent.
