Boy Scout troops will collect and recycle Christmas trees 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 8 in Kent neighborhoods for a $5 donation.
Trees must be placed outside by 8 a.m. Jan. 8 to ensure pickup.
Residents also can take the trees between 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 8 to the Service Club Ballfields, 14608 S.E. 288th St. Scouts will unload trees and take donations. Trees with tinsel and/or flock cannot be accepted.
The collection site was changed this season to the Service Club Ballfields from Russell Road Park.
The program helps keep trees out of landfills, and provides a stockpile of chips for use by the city parks department to mulch new plants and maintain trails in the parks system.
The city also will provide free curbside pickup of Christmas trees for residential households the week of Jan. 10-14. You must be a current garbage customer to be eligible. Customers should have received a flyer in the mail after Dec. 23 with details.
