Police arrested a 37-year-old man for investigation of fourth-degree assault after he reportedly bent the fingers back and ripped off a fingernail of his 27-year-old girlfriend during a dispute at about 5:45 p.m. Aug. 17 at an apartment in the 23100 block of 110th Avenue Southeast.
The girlfriend told officers that the incident started at about 2:30 a.m. Aug. 17 when her boyfriend threw her to the ground, according to the police report.
The woman went to work without reporting the earlier incident. When she returned home after work, she started to gather her things to leave. The live-in boyfriend reportedly grabbed her by the hands when she tried to leave and bent a finger back.
The boyfriend told officers his girlfriend had accused him of cheating on her with another woman and began to hit him. He said when she returned home from work she started to pack up the phone and cable equipment and also grabbed him around the neck to choke him so he knocked her hands away.
The officers noted that they did not see any signs or marks on the man that would indicate he had been choked.
