A 31-year-old man was found dead at about 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday outside in the parking lot of the Crossland Economy Studios hotel, 25104 Pacific Highway S., on the West Hill.
The man was identified as Ismail S.A. Mohamed on Wednesday by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office. The cause and manner of death are pending, according to the Medical Examiner’s Office media line.
Kent Police responded to the suspicious death because the man was naked and had obvious head trauma, according to Kent Police spokeswoman Melanie Frazier.
“Given the totality of the circumstances this does not appear to be a homicide case, but detectives did process it as such as we generally would for suspicious type deaths,” Frazier said in an email.
“There were no signs of foul play at this time,” said Frazier, who added the man had a past with mental health issues.
The King County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause of death after an autopsy and all of the normal screenings, Frazier said.
