A man died in a hit-and-run at about 9:49 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28 along Central Avenue North near South 228th Street in Kent.
An officer patrolling in the area saw two people standing in the roadway, according to a Kent Police statement. The officer made contract with the two and discovered a third person with life-threatening injuries on the ground.
The officer requested medical aid and began life-saving efforts until medics arrived, according to police. But the man died at the scene from his injuries. Police did not release an age for the man.
A witness told officers they heard a pedestrian being struck be a vehicle, but the driver fled the scene without stopping, according to police.
Police are working to identify the suspect vehicle and driver. Anyone who witnessed the hit-and-run is asked to call the Kent Police tip line at 253-856-5808 or email KPDTips@kentwa.gov.
