Maple Valley woman, 48, shot and injured in Kent on East Hill

Early Thursday morning, July 27 in the 11100 block of SE 240th Street

A 48-year-old Maple Valley woman was shot and injured early Thursday morning, July 28 in the 11100 block of SE 240th Street in Kent.

The woman was shot in the head, according to a July 28 Kent Police statement. Paramedics transported her to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

“The initial information gathered indicates that the shooting was not a random incident,” according to police.

Officers responded at about 1:52 a.m. to 114th Way SE and SE 230th Place in response to a 911 call of a shooting, according to police. The 911 caller said her friend had been shot and they were starting CPR. Officers were advised that the woman was in the caller’s vehicle and they were driving around to seek help. The women were about a mile from the shooting location.

Officers arrived within minutes and found the woman inside the vehicle, which was now parked. She had a gunshot wound to the head. Officers removed her from the vehicle to provide aid, according to police. Puget Sound Fire personnel and medics arrived and began lifesaving measures.

Police determined the shooting was in the 11100 block of SE 240th Street. The location is just south of the Phoenix Court Apartments, where multiple shootings have occurred this year, including two fatal shootings, one on Feb. 11 and the other on July 15.

The suspects were described as three males ages 17 to 25 wearing dark clothing. One male was wearing gray sweats.

Kent Violent Crime Detectives were called out to the scene to take over the investigation. They canvassed for video, witnesses and items of evidence.

The Kent Police Department is asking that anyone with information about this shooting call the Kent PD tip line at 253-856-5808 and reference case number 23-9842. You can also email a tip to KPDTipLine@kentwa.gov. Call 911 if your tip is time sensitive or you have information about the identity of the suspects.
