The Rev. Joyce Parry Moore led The Blessing of the Animals at St. James Episcopal Church last Sunday.
The blessing is a part of the Episcopal tradition that honors the Feast of St. Francis, which fell on Oct. 4. All animals and pets were welcomed to be blessed throughout the day on the labyrinth on the church’s front lawn.
At the Blessing of the Animals, people remember and emulate St. Francis’ example of love for animals and appreciation of God’s creations.
