The candidate filing week ended with 503 candidates filing for office. At the close of filing, candidates had filed for 304 of the 311 offices up for election this year.
The majority of candidates, 465, chose to file online. A lot draw was conducted to determine the order candidates will appear on the ballot. The list of candidates and their ballot order is posted on the King County Elections website.
“Elections in odd years include local positions that affect the daily lives of voters,” Elections Director Sherril Huff said. “Every voter in King County will receive a ballot in the mail this year, so it’s a good time for voters to update their registration and visit our website to stay up to date and informed.”
The deadline for candidates to withdraw is Thursday, June 16 at 4:30 p.m. An updated list of candidates will be posted to the website after the withdrawal deadline.
Important upcoming dates and deadlines:
- Monday, July 18 – Deadline to register to vote online or by mail, or to update a registration
- Wednesday, July 27 – Primary election ballots mailed to all King County voter
- Tuesday, August 16 – Election Day deadline to return primary ballots
