As many as nine Kent Police officers responded to a call about a man who had climbed up to a second-story balcony to enter an apartment in the 23900 block of 111th Place Southeast.
The man refused to come out of the apartment as commanded by officers, who eventually used a battering ram to knock down the door and handcuff the man, according to the police report.
Police arrested the man for investigation of obstructing an officer in connection with the June 22 case. Officers responded to the call at about 10:17 p.m. and had the man in custody about 30 minutes later.
A witness saw the man climb up a balcony and enter the unit through a screen door. When police responded and knocked on the door, the man refused to open it.
The man had items stored at the apartment, but didn’t actually live there, according to the apartment’s renter who wasn’t home when the man entered the unit. Police found out the arrested man had a theft 3 warrant out of Renton as well as a making a false statement warrant out of Kent.
The man told police he didn’t want to open the door for them because of his warrants.

When police arrived, they found the man, his 15-year-old sister and their mother at a car. The girl had run away and her mom and brother heard she was at the transit center and went down to get her.
The officers were at the car when the girl jumped out of it and started screaming at her brother. The brother then head-butted his sister in the face right in front of police. Two officers grabbed the man and handcuffed him.
The girl told police she runs away because she doesn’t like living at home and being disciplined by her mother. She told officers she would run away again. Police discovered the girl ran away again later in the day.
