In honor of May’s National Teacher Appreciation Month, Puget Sound area students in grades K-8 (or ages 14 and under) are encouraged to submit essay nominations for their favorite teacher by May 22.
Ivar’s and Kidd Valley locations in Western Washington, including Kent, have entry forms available for students to fill out. For Ivar’s, students can also enter online at http://ivars.net/index.php?page=nominate-your-teacher.
Entries are judged on four criteria: well-described examples that support the student’s praise; technical, well-written aspect of the essay (judges will factor in age-skill level); if it’s memorable and creative; and how well it captures the power and value of the teacher.
Each grand-prize-winning teacher from Ivar’s and Kidd Valley will receive a $250 gift certificate toward school supplies. The winner’s nominating student receives an Ivar’s clam chowder party for the winning student’s class, and a visit by Ivar’s Dancing Clam; Kidd Valley’s respective winner receives a burger party for the class. Teachers also receive a commemorative plaque.
Four runner-up teachers (two each from Ivar’s and Kidd Valley) receive a $150 gift certificate toward school supplies.
Thirty teachers (15 each from Ivar’s and Kidd Valley) receive a $25 gift card good for all Ivar’s full-service, Seafood Bar and Fish Bar locations as well as Kidd Valley locations.
