Michelle McDowell walked out on the dock behind her Lake Meridian home and looked at the Meridian Belle before crews started to tear apart the 40-year-old boat.
"She's just falling apart," said McDowell, who carefully stepped up on the boat but took only a few steps because of the weak floorboards.

When Elma residents Chani Hayes and Gary Cobb took their dog Littlegirl to a family activity in Des Moines last September, little did they know less than a month later their dog would be dead, and they would be suing King County Animal Control for the lack of care they claim occurred at the county’s Kent-based shelter.
Represented by Bellingham animal-welfare lawyer Adam Karp, Hayes and Cobb are now suing King County Animal Care & Control, and veterinarian Marilyn Christensen, for damages in the death of their dog.
Auburn Police have tracked down a Portland, Ore., man as a person of interest in connection with the May 21 killing of Seth Frankel, a city of Kent video program coordinator.
"We would like there to be an arrest but what we have now is not to the point where (King County) prosecutors want us to make an arrest," said Auburn Police Sgt. David Colglazier during a Wednesday phone interview. "What we have is not enough to charge him, but he is a person of interest."
