We think it is time to reevaluate the policy for installing traffic cameras in Kent. People know there is no penalty for running red lights in Kent.

For each of the past two years, Kent dentist Mark Walker of the Meridian Dental Clinic has joined a team of doctors and dentists in a trip to Haiti, but due to the earthquake, he is worried that this year’s trip, scheduled for March, may not happen.

Prosecutors charge Kent teen in Metro bus attack

King County prosecutors Wednesday charged a 17-year-old Kent male teenager with first-degree malicious mischief in connection with an attack of a Metro bus driver Jan. 23 in Tukwila. His charges stem from allegedly breaking windows on the back door of the bus and damaging the door frame.

For many people, the images of devastation from the earthquake in Haiti are those of a far-off nation crumbling and in need of immediate aid. But for Kent-Meridian High School junior Viliana Apollon, who grew up in a suburb of the Haitian capital of Port-Au-Prince, those pictures hit home, literally.

Kent chamber announces its legislative priorities

With the 2010 legislative session under way in Olympia, the Kent Chamber of Commerce has released its priorities for this session. According to Executive Director Andrea Keikkala, the top priority for the chamber this session deal with the potential for flooding throughout the Green River Valley.

Kent City budget: No job losses projected

Kent city officials do not expect to cut any city jobs this year in order to meet a 2010 general fund budget of $80.3 million as well as a reserve balance of $6.3 million, or 8.1 percent of the general fund.
