A 51-year-old Kent woman was killed early Wednesday morning after she hid between two traffic barrels, moved to lie down in a southbound lane of Interstate 5 in Kent and was hit by a semi.
At about 3:41 a.m., the woman was walking on the freeway and moved traffic barrels just north of State Route 516 that were set up for lane closures for construction, according to the Washington State Patrol. She hid between two barrels as the semi approached and then proceeded to lie down in lane three, where she was struck by the semi as the driver approached the road closure.
Julia A. Villalobos, died at the scene, according to the State Patrol. The semi driver, a 63-year-old Concrete man, stopped on the right shoulder just south of the collision. He was not injured.
